IRWINDALE, Calif. (August 6, 2013) – The Center for Financial Empowerment, formerly the SCE FCU Foundation, will host three 90-minute personal finance workshops to help educate members of the local community learn the importance of money management. The workshops are open to the public and are free of cost.
“We established the Center because we saw a real need in the community – with all ages, and especially with youth, that they are simply not prepared to properly manage their finances,” said George Poitou, SCE Federal Credit Union COO and Center Board member. “The credit union offers fairly priced financial services to many underserved communities in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, and wanted to offer real financial literacy training to them as well. Through the Center, we’re pleased to invite the community to take advantage of these valuable workshops.”
Workshop participants will learn about setting a saving and spending plan to help achieve life’s priorities; what smart money habits will provide future financial success; steps to improve their credit score and manage debt; and how to get their finances ready to buy a home.
All workshops are from 10am to 11:30am and will take place at SCE Federal Credit Union’s corporate office: 12701 Schabarum Ave., Irwindale.
