In the midst of the COVID-19 quarantine, people are spending more quality family time than ever before. For many, the re-introduction of family game time is one way to alleviate the boredom and get in some fun bonding between adults and kids.
Game time is also a great opportunity to help kids learn some of those real-life lessons about how money works. Here are four of our favorite board games for teaching money lessons.
An age-old staple for any family game collection, and for good reason! Players get paid, buy and sell properties, pay and collect rent, and even encounter life’s unexpected expenses and bonuses. Kids can learn concepts like banking, spending, purchasing and negotiation tactics. The classic version is still fun to play, or you can add a twist with one of the numerous revised versions on the market
Another classic board game by Winning Moves Games. Players earn money, pay bills, and make deals on property. They can even add to savings and take out loans. The player with the most money at the end of the game wins! It’s fun and simple enough for kids as young as 8
|The Game of Life||
It’s been around longer than some parents have! Players go through challenges like going to college, raising a family, buying a home, working and retiring. A player wins by having the most assets at the end. It’s still fun for all generations!
A multi-award-winning game that involves the concepts of harvesting, trading and managing resources. Players must use a balance of luck and strategy to win, and it really brings out the competitive spirit
If you don’t already have these in your game closet, consider adding them to your collection. They’re a great learning tool for kids and a lot of fun for the whole family too.
