Team Member since 2019
Get comfortable with doing things that make you feel uncomfortable. That’s how confidence is built because we all make mistakes. Learning from mistakes is the best way to grow and will never happen unless you get out of your comfort zone and take on new challenges.
Describe the work you do at the Credit Union
I manage the Collections department and I oversee all matters including delinquent shares and loans, repossessions, bankruptcies, decedent accounts, charge offs, etc.
Recently, I was added to the Board of Directors for the California Credit Union Collectors Council. This is a committee that deals with collections and lending matters. SCE Credit Union has participated in the committee for over 20 years.
My job is fulfilling and although it can be stressful at times, I find it rewarding. I enjoy my job and what I enjoy most is the people I work with – both internally and externally. Relationships are key to being a quality manager and I love having a great team that’s not only self-sufficient, but eager to learn and challenge me as a leader.
What was your first job?
I was bussing tables at Coco’s Bakery and Restaurant as a Junior in high school. I was later promoted to server and started earning tips, which is what I miss most about working in a restaurant. I walked home with cash in my pocket every day!
How did you come to be an SCE FCU team member?
I came to SCE Credit Union as a referral from a previous SCE FCU employee. I had worked in collections at banks, sub-prime lenders, third-party agencies and a law firm. I started on the phone, moved up to supervisor, and now a manager. This is actually my first credit union job and with my 13 years of experience in the collections industry, I hope to be here for a very long time.
How do you spend your free time?
Some of my hobbies include playing ping pong, boogie boarding, going just about anywhere with my two beautiful daughters – Aaliyah is 15 years old and Alexa (aka Fuzzy) is 9 years old. My free time is usually spent eating, going to the gym, watching Netflix, and always watching or attending sporting events. My teams are the Dodgers, USC Trojans, Chargers and the Lakers.
Adam was named Manager of the Quarter two quarters in a row this year! He was recognized for rolling up his sleeves and always getting the job done regardless of the situation. Adam recently took over the credit reporting dispute process with no hesitation, stepped up to the plate in the absence of other team members, and not only managed his team but helped them while they’ve been shorthanded. He’s willing to do whatever’s needed and leads by example. Great job, Adam! Keep up the great work!
