Describe the work you do at the Credit Union. Do you enjoy what you do?
I'm part of the Human Resources department as the Payroll Administrator. I process the Credit Union's biweekly payroll for our 180+ team members. This entails reviewing timesheets and ensuring all time punches have been recorded accurately. In addition, I input the incentives, awards and deductions into payroll.
I enjoy what I do. Payroll laws are constantly changing and it keeps me on my toes. My fellow team members make what I do fun. Feeling like I belong to a family makes it easy to wake up and drive into work every day.
How did you come to be an SCE FCU employee? What's your background experience?
I worked for another credit union that was 90 miles round-trip from my house. I did the commute for three years and it became very daunting, which is why I began looking for something closer to home. I was on indeed.com and found a posting for a Payroll Administrator and applied.
I began my career in the credit union industry on September 18, 2001. From that time I have worked as a Teller, Collections Officer, Accounts Payable Clerk, Payroll Specialist and now Payroll Administrator.
How do you spend your free time? Are you married? Do you have kids, pets, hobbies, life goals, etc?
I love spending my free time with family and friends. They're the ones who keep me going, spending time with my nieces and nephews are the highlights of my life. They say the darndest things. I'm not married, although I do look forward to it; and eventually to have a child. My goal is to maintain my designation as a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
Do you have any advice or words of wisdom/inspiration you'd like to share?
Never be afraid to ask questions out of fear of rejection, because a closed mouth doesn't get fed.
