Meet Teresa

Describe the work you do at the Credit Union. Do you enjoy what you do?

I'm part of the Information Technology team as a Help Desk Specialist. My primary function in the group is to assist SCE FCU staff with any issues, questions or concerns on connectivity and functionality of their PCs, application(s) and internet access as it relates to their respective organizational unit.

I very much enjoy what I do and every day I learn something new whether it be a new system, application or conversation that leads to getting to know the SCE FCU staff better. Since the Online Banking migration, I also have been working with Members that have technical issues with connectivity to the new site and/or features. There's never a dull moment.

How did you come to be an SCE FCU employee? What's your background experience?

After 30 years of working for a large bank and then spending 2 years away from the workforce, I focused my employment search closer to home and while search through Monster.com, I found an opening for SCE FCU, then I recalled seeing the Credit Union building everyday on my commute to and from work for many years. During my 30 years in banking I gained hands on experience in many areas, starting as a teller then promoted to the branch department that handled customer Notes, Time Certificates of Deposit and Wire Transfers. After 3 years of branch operations, I sought out an opportunity in the Mainframe Operations team where I spent the next 11 years in various roles until I joined the Information Technology team in the Monitoring group, which due to a merger was moved into the Network Operations Center. My last role with the bank was with the Network Engineering and Operations team as a Project Manager for team projects and eventually afforded the opportunity to learn Network Security Administration for Proxys and Firewalls, which I performed for the last 8+ years of my employment.

How do you spend your free time? Are you married? Do you have kids, pets, hobbies, life goals, etc?

My free time is spent either reading, just relaxing or with my grandkids - I have 10. I would like to get back into walking and hiking for fitness as well as I find it relaxing. Gardening is still on my hobbies 'wish list'. My life goals are to travel more and stay healthy.

Do you have any advice or words of wisdom/inspiration you'd like to share?

Find your inner peace. It will help make life easier.
