SCE FCU Foundation Proudly Sponsors Grand Opening of Community Empowerment Center
Jun 13, 2011 | In The Community
The SCE FCU Foundation recently sponsored the grand opening of the Girls Today Women Tomorrow Green Community Empowerment Center in Boyle Heights. A longtime partner of Girls Today Women Tomorrow (GTWT), we're proud to have assisted them in their five-year journey to make their dream of opening this center a reality.
The new "green" Empowerment Center will allow young ladies from low-income and underserved families to participate in a whole new world of learning experiences, including world-class cooking classes, media and technology training, self-defense workshops, leadership development, financial literacy, college preparation, and more.
In Phase II of development, the Center will be renovated to include a professional teaching kitchen / television taping studio, video editing and wireless computer lab, film screening area, and community garden. Upgrades will use earth-friendly materials and renewable energy technology, exposing youth to new green initiative careers and creating work experience programs for them to educate the local community on inexpensive energy-saving alternatives.
Congratulations Girls Today Women Tomorrow! We're so proud to be a partner in your success!
